A Man Arrested After Vandalizing Roof of Latter-day Saint Chapel

After climbing onto the roof of a Latter-day Saint chapel and inflicting malicious damage, a man was apprehended in Modesto, California. Several stucco roof tiles were pulled off and thrown by the man. He surrendered easily when policemen provided him soda and cigarettes and told him he was having a “frustrating time.”

The damage is assessed to be minor, and the individual has been charged with criminal vandalism on a preliminary basis. During the incident, no one was hurt.

Initial estimates put the damage around $1,000, though Inacio was not sure if that would be accurate after a formal assessment. He said the amount of damage was comparatively minor to the size of the building.
