Church reopens Kyiv Ukraine Temple for ordinance work on a limited basis
Armed conflict in Eastern Europe prompted the Church to close the temple in late February 2022.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reopens the Kyiv Ukraine Temple after it announced that it will be closed temporarily due to Russian invasion

It was confirmed by church spokesperson, Irene Caso, who said, “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has carefully evaluated the current circumstances and decided to resume—on a limited basis—the sacred religious ceremonies in the temple.” She added, “Church members are able to make appointments to participate in temple ceremonies, which began October 14, 2022.” The temple closed in February following the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Addressing Latter-day Saints in Ukraine in a special Sept. 11 devotional originating from Riga, Latvia, Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles promised a brighter day to come for those who would focus their lives on the Savior.
“We know how you have loved attending the Kyiv temple,” he said. “We are hopeful that we will be able to reopen the Kyiv temple in the near future.”
Elder Cook counseled members to focus on three areas that promote righteousness.
- Immerse yourselves in the home-centered, Church-supported curriculum.
- Honor the Sabbath in your homes.
- Focus your goals on the temple.
The scriptures are clear, said Elder Cook. “Those who are righteous, follow the Savior and keep His commandments will be blessed.”
