Innovative electrical engineering students at Brigham Young University have created the world’s smallest Book of Mormon, producing microscopic text on a 5-centimeter square. Because it is engraved, the microchip has the ability to last millions of years.

“Lots of people can do this and lots of people have done this with the Bible,” said professor Aaron Hawkins. “But to our knowledge, no one has ever done it for The Book of Mormon. We realized we were probably the only folks out there that had the ability to do it and would think to do it.”

The thin silicon wafer is normally used for making computer chips. As an extra touch, the students added gold-plating to the chip, which holds nearly 1.5 million characters.
